Lady Cougars claim No. 10 for second week straight

Columbia, Mo. –The Columbia Lady Cougar basketball team remained at No. 10 in this week’s top 25 ranking. The national poll was released earlier today by the NAIA National Office in Kansas City, Mo.
The Lady Cougars are 22-2 on the season, and remain undefeated in American Midwest Conference (AMC) play with a record of 10-0. They pulled in a total of 223 points on the poll.
As for the rest of the poll, the top five teams has shuffled a bit from a week ago. Union (Tenn.) University remains in the top spot with a 23-1 record. Saint Xavier (Ill.) jumped from No. 3 to No. 2 this week also with a 23-1 record. Vanguard (Calif.) University holds the No. 3 spot, tallying 287 points and holding a record of 15-2. Oklahoma Baptist University is in the fourth spot followed by Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) University who fell from No. 2 to No. 5 this week.
Columbia’s AMC rival, McKendree (Ill.) University has once again held their spot in this week’s rating, bringing in 156 points with a record of 18-5. McKendree is ranked No. 16. After defeating McKendree last week fellow AMC opponent William Woods (Mo.) University moved from No. 19 to No. 17 this week with a 20-2 record.
The Lady Cougars return to action on Thursday, Feb. 11th when they head to Lebanon, Ill. to take on the No. 16 ranked McKendree (Ill.) University Bearcats. The Bearcats are 8-2 in the conference play. In their first meeting on Jan. 14th, the Lady Cougars easily put away McKendree with a 83-59 victory.
