Lady Cougars slip to No. 10 in latest NAIA Top 25 Poll Columbia, Mo. – After dropping just its second contest of the 2009-10 season last week to non-conference foe Peru State (Neb.) College, the Columbia Lady Cougars slid from eighth to 10th in this week’s NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Poll, released today by the national office in Kansas City, Mo. The Lady Cougars are 20-2 on the season and 8-0 in American Midwest Conference (AMC) play. They garnered 227 points in this week’s poll.

Union (Tenn.) University is No. 1 for the 32nd consecutive time and garnered all the first place votes for the third straight week. Union handed Columbia their only other loss of the season in Columbia’s first match-up of the season back on November 2nd, 2009. Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) University is 20-1 on the season and sits in the second slot. Saint Xavier (Ill.) University is third with 290 points and a 22-1 record.

Columbia’s AMC opponents, McKendree (Ill.) University and William Woods (Mo.) University remain in the same spots as they did a week ago, at No. 16 and 19, respectively.

The Lady Cougars host the Williams Baptist (Ark.) College Eagles in a league match-up on Thursday, Feb. 4. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the Arena of Southwell Complex.
