Lady Cougars hold at No. 8 for the second straight week

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia Cougar women’s basketball team remained in the No. 8 position in this week’s NAIA Top 25 Poll, which was released today by the NAIA National Office in Kansas City, Mo. The Lady Cougars, who are 16-1 on the season with 16 straight victories, tallied 239 points.
Columbia is one of five teams in the top ten that held their position from a week ago. Union (Tenn.) University remained in the top spot with a mark of 17-1. Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) University took over the No. 2 position, pulling in 299 points.
Saint Xavier (Ill.) University, which holds a mark of 18-1, slipped from No. 2 to No. 3. Oklahoma Baptist University and Vanguard (Calif.) University swapped spots from a week ago, with Saint Xavier moving to No. 4 and Vanguard falling to the fifth spot.
Columbia’s AMC rival McKendree (Ill.) University holds a 13-4 record after a loss to the Lady Cougars last week. The Bearcats are No. 15 this week, dropping one spot from last week’s rating. Another AMC foe, William Woods University moves up from No. 22 to No. 21 this week with a 14-1 record.
The Lady Cougars head to Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) College in Hannibal, Mo. on Tuesday, January 19. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
