Lady Cougars move up one to No. 8 in latest NAIA Top 25 Rating

Columbia, Mo. – After two American Midwest Conference (AMC) wins last week, the Columbia Lady Cougar basketball team moved up one spot in this week’s top 25 ranking, climbing from No. 9 to No. 8. The national poll was released earlier today by the NAIA National Office in Kansas City, Mo.
The Lady Cougars are 14-1 on the season, and 2-0 in Conference play. They pulled in 235 points in the poll.
The top six teams remain the same from the previous poll. Union (Tenn.) University remains at No. 1 with a 15-1 record on the season. Saint Xavier (Ill.) University is in the No. 2 poistion followed by Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) University, Vanguard (Calif.) University and Oklahoma Baptist University.
Columbia’s AMC rival, McKendree (Ill.) University, also moved up in the poll. The Bearcats are No. 14 after holding a No. 17 ranking in the last poll. McKendree is 12-3 thus far in the season, and they are tied for the top spot in the conference with Columbia. The Lady Cougars will face off against the Bearcats this week. On Thursday, January 14th Columbia welcomes McKendree to the Arena of the Southwell Complex for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
William Woods University, another one of Columbia’s AMC foes, also holds a spot in the top 25. The Owls are No. 22 with a 13-1 record on the season.
