Lady Cougars jump into the top 10

Lady Cougars jump into the top 10 Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia Lady Cougar basketball team jumped five spots in the first NAIA Top 25 Rating of the season, moving from the No. 14 spot it held in the preseason poll to No. 9 in today’s ranking. Columbia, which is 9-1 on the season, totaled 233 points.

Columbia’s lone loss of the season came against top ranked Union (Tenn.) University, who is in the No. 1 position for the 27th straight week. Union is off to a 10-1 start this season and pulled in five first place votes. Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) University is second, followed by Saint Xavier (Ill.) University and Vanguard (Calif.) University. Oklahoma Baptist University rounds out the top five with a 6-1 record.

Columbia’s American Midwest Conference (AMC) rivals, McKendree (Ill.) University and William Woods University, both made it into the top 25 this week at No. 17 and 23, respectively.

The Lady Cougars close out the first half of the season with a game against Peru State (Neb.) University on Wednesday, December 9th. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Peru, Neb.
