Lady Cougars notch seventh straight win Columbia, Mo. – The Lady Cougars logged their seventh consecutive victory tonight, defeating Benedictine (Kan.) College by a score of 69-52. Columbia, ranked No. 14 in the NAIA Preseason Top 25 Poll, is now 7-1 on the season. The Ravens fall to 4-4 on the season with tonight’s loss.

Midway through the first half the Lady Cougars took the lead and held it for the remainder of the contest. Columbia built a 13-point advantage at the break, 40-27.

Columbia’s 38 percent shooting performance from the field in the second half was more than enough to overpower the Ravens, allowing the Lady Cougars to take the 17-point victory.

Columbia outrebounded Benedictine 48-31 and had nine blocked shots.

Kirsti Wilkerson led the Lady Cougars for the second straight game, notching 19 points and two blocked shots. Senior Whitney Widaman finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. Forward Rachel Oswald chipped in a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds in 22 minutes of action.

Columbia hits the road to New Orleans, La. for the weekend. On Thursday, December 3rd the Lady Cougars take on Dillard (La.) University at 5:30 p.m. Then on Saturday, December 5th Columbia faces No. 21 ranked Loyola (La.) University at 2:00 p.m.
