Columbia falls to No. 12 Lindenwood Columbia, Mo. - In the second day of the Best Western Classic hosted by Columbia College, the Columbia Cougars fell to No. 12 ranked Lindenwood (Mo.) University 77-48. The Cougars, ranked No. 19 in the NAIA Preseason Top 25 Poll, are 3-7 on the season. The Lions improve to 6-1 with today’s victory.

Columbia shot a cold 26 percent from the field in the first half and scored just five points in the first ten minutes of play. Columbia’s 7-0 run midway through the half did not make a dent in Lindenwood’s 54 percent shooting performance. The Cougars trailed the Lions 38-17 at the break.

Although Columbia came back to shoot 43 percent in the second half, the 21-point first half deficit was more than enough for the Lions to walk away with the victory.

The Lions outrebounded Columbia 46-29 in the contest.

Columbia was led offensively by Chad Thompson. Thompson had 12 points and four rebounds. Jaron Strickland chipped in 11 points.

Brandon Kunkel had 21 points to lead the Lions.

Columbia returns to action on Tuesday, December 1st when they travel to Batesville, Ark. to face Lyon (Ark.) College. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
