Lady Cougars score win over Baker Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College Lady Cougars scored their fourth win of the season today, defeating Baker (Kan.) University 64-56 in the Arena of Southwell Complex. Columbia, ranked No. 14 in the NAIA preseason top 25 poll, improves to 4-1 on the season. The Wildcats drop to 3-4 with the loss.

Both teams struggled offensively in the first frame with the Lady Cougars shooting just 29 percent from the field and Baker just 33 percent. After four lead changes and five ties the two teams found themselves knotted at 26 heading into the locker rooms.

It was all Columbia in the second half with the Lady Cougars shooting 38 percent and the Wildcats shooting just 31. Columbia also had 12 blocked shots in the contest, including five by Rachel Oswald.

Oswald finished with 17 points, leading Columbia offensively. She also pulled down 12 rebounds. Denise Rosario had 13 points and Veronica Smith ended with 13 rebounds. Whitney Davis dished out a game high nine assists.

The Lady Cougars remain at home for the next contest as they host Freed-Hardeman University on Tuesday, November 24th at 5:30 p.m.
