Atchison, Kan. - The Cougar men’s basketball team logged their third loss of the season falling to Benedictine (Kan.) College 51-45. With the loss the Cougars, ranked No. 19 in the NAIA Preseason Top 25 Poll, fall to 2-3 on the year. The Ravens improve to 4-1 on the season.
Senior forward Quintin Totta led the Cougars in scoring with 16 points. Sophomore Taylor Evans was the only other Cougar in double figures tonight, finishing with 10 points. Greg Stegeman had nine rebounds.
Columbia held just two leads in the contest, one early in the first half and one early in the second frame. The last advantage that the Cougars held was at 22-21. Columbia played catch-up after that pulling within two on a Taylor Evans three-pointer with 18 seconds to go, but it wasn’t enough as the Cougars were forced to foul sending the Ravens to the line where they walked away with the win.
On Friday and Saturday, Nov. 20 & 21, the Cougars travel to Canton, Mo. to take part in the Culver-Stockton College Classic. The Cougars will face Ashford (Iowa) College on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and then take on host institution Culver-Stockton on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
