Assistant Softball Coach
Joe Henderson

hendersonJoe Henderson begins his second season in 2011-12 as assistant coach for the Cougar softball team. Prior to joining the Cougars, Henderson spent one season as an assistant at Lincoln (Mo.) University.

Before joining the college ranks at Lincoln, Joe spent four seasons as the head softball coach at Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, Mo. Henderson guided the Bruins to a 64-40 record, becoming the winningest coach in school history. Prior to taking the reigns as head coach he spent seven seasons as an assistant. In addition, Henderson spent over 25 years coaching youth baseball and girls softball at many levels of play and age.

Joe spent over 11 years in the U. S. Navy after high school and played on the All-Navy Softball Team in 1976. In 1979, he played semi-professional baseball as a catcher and received a tryout with the Kansas City Royals.

Henderson graduated from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Ga. with a degree in Business. A native of Palm Desert, Calif., Henderson lives in Columbia with his wife, Linda. They have four children, including a set of identical twins and seven grandchildren.
