Cougar Volleyball signs junior college All-American
Columbia, Mo. - Columbia College women’s volleyball coach Melinda Wrye-Washing officially announced today that Columbia College has signed Kari McWilliams, a sophomore setter from Longview Community College in Lee’s Summit, Mo., to a national letter of intent to play volleyball for the Cougars next season.
"Having a quality setter like Kari on the team is going to give us a lot of options on offense,” said Wrye-Washington. “She will allow us the opportunity to move our All-American setter Luana Branco to a hitting position if needed and still have a skilled setter to distribute the ball.”
As a sophomore McWilliams led the Lakers to the NJCAA National Tournament and was named First Team All-Region and NJCAA All-American.
"I selected Columbia College to continue my education and volleyball career because it had everything I was looking for,” said McWilliams. “It’s not to far from my hometown of Lee’s Summit, it has an excellent criminal justice program along with a national ranked volleyball team.”
