Cougar softball improve to 12-9

Ft. Myers, Fla. - Late inning runs helped the Cougar softball team to a double header sweep of Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) College today at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Ft. Myers, Fla.  Columbia defeated the Wolves 3-2 and 4-0 to move to 12-9 on the season.

Cardinal Stritch scored two runs in the first inning to take an early lead over the Cougars in game one.  Lindsey Williams put Columbia on the board in the bottom of the first when she hit a solo dinger to centerfield.  Columbia threatened in the second, but were unable to score as they left three runners on.  The Cougars knotted the score at 2 in the bottom of the fifth when Williams led off with a single, stole second, was moved to third by Chris Schoonover and scored on a sacrifice fly by Stephanie Stowe.   Columbia added the go ahead run in the bottom of the seventh when Amanda Hodges, Schoonover and Stowe loaded the bases for Rachel Brawner.  After nine pitches Brawner was walked and the game winning run came across the plate. 

Katie McMahon (6-5) recorded the win for Columbia.  McMahon gave up three hits and zero earned runs while striking out nine.

The second game became a pitching duel until the fifth inning when the Cougars scored all four of their runs.  Columbia notched four runs off of two hits and two errors, including a home run by catcher Stephanie Stowe. 

Meghan Bailey (5-4) struck out nine for Columbia while giving up just three hits. 

Stowe went five-for-seven on the day, with three RBI's and one run scored.  Brawner had three hits and posted one RBI. 

The Cougars return to American Midwest Conference (AMC) play on Monday, April 2 when they travel to St. Louis, Mo. to take on Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University at 2 p.m.  The double-header will take place at St. Louis University.

Cougar softball sweeps Cardinal Stritch

Fort Myers, Fla. - The Cougar softball team improved to 10-9 on the season today with a pair of wins over Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) College.  Columbia defeated the Wolves 4-0 in the first game and 9-1 in six innings in the night cap. The Cougars are competing in the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Fla. this week. 

In the first game of the day the Cougars scored all four of their runs in the fourth inning after senior Stephanie Stowe led off with a single to shortstop.  Stowe was followed by Rachel Brawner, Marcie McMahon and Katie McMahon who all reached base on either an error or a walk. All four batters scored later in the inning due to four Cardinal Stritch errors and three wild pitches. 

Columbia posted just two hits in the game.  Stowe went one-for-two with a run scored while Lindsey Williams went one-for-four.  Katie McMahon (5-5) got the win on the mound for the Cougars, going the full seven innings and striking out seven while giving up just three hits. 

Columbia's bats came alive in the second game, scoring one run in the first, three in the third and fourth and two in the sixth to run-rule the Wolves 9-1 in six innings.  Brawner had four hits and four RBI's.  Stowe finished with three hits, two runs scored and three RBI's.  Chris Schoonover scored three times and stole two bases, while Williams ended with two runs scored and a stolen base. 

Meghan Bailey (4-4) was the winning pitcher.  Bailey faced 23 batters, giving up just three hits and two walks while fanning eight.

The Cougars return to action tomorrow in Fort Myers for another double header against Cardinal Stritch.  Game times are set for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Cougar soccer signs Raytown High School standout


Columbia, Mo. - Columbia College men’s soccer head coach John Klein officially announced today that Columbia College has signed Jimmy Herrman, a senior from Raytown High School in Raytown, Mo., to a national letter of intent to play soccer for the Cougars next season.

“Jimmy is a skilled soccer player with exceptional speed.  He will add an exciting dimension to our squad and should create significant problems for opposing defenders,” said Klein.  “Cougar fans will enjoy watching him play the game.”

Herrman was a two-time First Team All-District and All-Conference selection during his junior and senior seasons.  Herrman was also named Second Team All-Western Region as a senior.

Cougar Basketball All-Americans and Scholar-Athletes announced

Columbia, Mo. – Two Lady Cougars and one Cougar basketball player have been recognized as 2007 NAIA All-Americans. Amber Lewellen has been honored as one of the top players in NAIA Division I, pulling in NAIA All-American Third Team honors. Fellow Lady Cougar forward LeAnn Fossum and Cougar forward Bryant Chambly have been awarded NAIA All-American Honorable Mention honors.  Senior Cougar guard Ryan Steinhoff has been named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete.

Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes must hold at least junior status academically and have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Steinhoff has a GPA of 3.89 in his major of sports management and is a two-time recipient of this award.  In his four seasons as a Cougar, Ryan has passed out 285 assists and has started 89 of the 127 games he has played. 

Lewellen who hails from Kirksville, Mo. led the Lady Cougars in scoring this season.  Her average of 18.3 points took the Lady Cougars to a 26-8 final record this season.  Lewellen also pulled down 5.3 rebounds per game and grabbed 19 rebounds on Jan. 20 to break the Lady Cougar single game rebounding record.   

The 5-9 junior guard shot 48 percent from the field and 72 percent from the free-throw line.  In addition to garnering All-American honors, Lewellen was also named the American Midwest Conference Newcomer and Most Valuable Player of the Year.

Fossum scored 427 points this season to bring her four year total to 1,528 moving her into second place on the Lady Cougar all-time leading scorers list.  The Harrisburg, Mo. native shot 50 percent from the field and 72 percent from the charity stripe.  She averaged 5.6 rebounds a game, corralling 180 this season to put her on top of the Lady Cougar all-time rebounding list.

Fossum, a 6 foot senior forward, who is also a two-time honorable mention and a two-time first team all-conference honoree, also collected honorable mention All-American honors last season.  

Chambly, who is a native of St. Louis, Mo., joined the Cougars midway through this season and led Columbia in scoring, averaging 18.7 points. Chambly shot 50 percent from the field and 67 percent from the line, hitting 38-of-57 attempts. He also pulled in 8.9 rebounds a game.

The 6-4 senior forward was named the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Newcomer of the Year last year and received first team all-conference accolades this season.

Softball Cougars blitz Williams Baptist in AMC doubleheader

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia Cougar softball team improved to 4-0 in American Midwest Conference (AMC) play today, defeating Williams Baptist (Ark.) College 7-6 and 5-0 in a league doubleheader. The Cougars are 8-9 on the season.

In the first game, Columbia jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Eagles tied up the score in the top of the second with a run of their own.  The Cougars scored one more run in the bottom of the second, three in the third and two in the fifth.  Williams Baptist scored their remaining five runs in the top of the fifth.

Chris Schoonover, Stephanie Stowe and Katie McMahon all had two hits a piece.  Marcie McMahon posted two RBI's in the victory. 

Meghan Bailey (3-4) started the game on the mound for the Cougars. She gave up six hits and five unearned run, while fanning six Eagle batters.  Marcie McMahon (1-0) relieved Bailey in the third to record the win. 

Columbia continued to dominate in the second game, scoring runs in the third, fourth and fifth.  The Cougars Jena Strobel hit her first homerun as a Cougar in the fourth, scoring two runs and putting Columbia up by three.  Chris Schoonover recorded the remaining RBI's with a single in the fifth.

Stephanie Kababie led Columbia with three his and two runs scored, while Marcie McMahon and Schoonover added two hits each.

Katie McMahon (4-5) was the winning pitcher, tallying seven strikeouts, while giving up zero walks and three hits.

The Cougars head to Ft. Myers, Fla. on Friday for a week of spring break doubleheaders.

Softball Cougars close out Mizzou Invitational

Columbia, Mo. - The Cougar softball squad again faced some tough competition in the third day of the University of Missouri's Mizzou Invitational.  Columbia fell to NCAA Division I opponent Northwestern (Ill.) University 1-12 in five innings.  The Wildcats are ranked No. 5 in the NCAA and are last year's National Championship runner-up.  The loss drops the Cougars to 6-9 on the season. 

Northwestern jumped on the board in the first inning with three runs to take the 3-0 lead.  They added to the lead in the second and third innings, scoring four and one run, respectively.  The Cougars fought back in the bottom of the third when Lindsey Hume reached base on a walk, was sacrificed to second by Amanda Hodges and scored on a Lindsey Williams single.  However, the Wildcats were able to shut down the Cougars for the remainder of the game and add to their lead in the top of the fifth to seal the five inning victory. 

Williams and Stephanie Stowe recorded one hit a piece.  Meghan Bailey (3-4) pitched 1.2 innings and struck out one in the loss.  Katie McMahon (3-5) pitched the remainder of the game, striking out four and giving up just one walk. 

Columbia returns home to host American Midwest Conference (AMC) foe Williams Baptist (Ark.) College in a Tuesday, March 20 doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.

Cougar Softball drops two

Columbia, Mo. - The Columbia Cougar softball team had trouble getting on top today, falling to NCAA Division I opponents Western Illinois University 8-0 in five innings and the University of Missouri 20-5 in six innings in the first day of the Mizzou Tiger Invitational.  The losses move the Cougars to 6-8 on the season.

In the first game, Columbia failed to generate any offense. Cougar batters struck out seven times and were only able to tally one hit, by Jena Strobel, in five innings of play.  

Katie McMahon (3-5) took the loss, giving up seven hits and two walks. The junior hurler fanned one batter in two innings of work. Marcie McMahon (0-0) relieved Katie in the third inning, facing eight batters and giving up just two hits. 

In the second game, Columbia’s offense was able to score five runs off of six hits. However, the Tigers overpowered the Cougars with 22 hits of their own.

Stephanie Stowe was two for three in the contest with a run scored and one RBI. Strobel recorded three RBI's and Lindsey Williams, Marcie McMahon and Stobel each smacked a double.

Meghan Bailey (3-3) notched the loss. She totaled three strikeouts, while giving up five hits, seven walks and nine runs.  Marcie McMahon took over on the mound in the second inning, tallying two strikeouts.

The Cougars return to action tomorrow in the Mizzou Invitational.  Columbia takes on Western Illinois again at 11 a.m. and 2006 National Runners-up from the Big 10 Northwestern (Ill.) University at 1:30 p.m.

Lady Cougars fall to Lewis-Clark in first round of NAIA National Tournament

Jackson, Tenn. – The Columbia Lady Cougar basketball team saw its season come to an end today, falling in the first round of the NAIA National Tournament to Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) College by a score of 66-86. The loss ends Columbia’s season at 26-8. Lewis-Clark, which finished the season ranked No. 2 in the final top 25 poll, improves to 31-2. The Warriors move into the second round to face Cumberland (Tenn.) University.

Lewis-Clark started the game with a 15-4 run and added to their lead throughout the first half, due in large part to a 30 percent shooting performance by the Lady Cougars.  Columbia shot just three free throws during the first 20 minutes, compared to 15 shot by the Warriors.  At halftime Lewis-Clark led 43-27.

The Lady Cougars were able to make a 12-2 run to start the second half and bring the game within 10.  However, Columbia could not bring the game any closer as the Warriors answered the Lady Cougars with a run of their own to take a commanding lead.  Lewis-Clark never looked back as they walked away with the20-point victory. 

Columbia shot 12 and made14 free throws in the game, while Lewis-Clark was 28-for-38 from the charity stripe. The Lady Cougars shot just 39 percent from the field, while the Warriors hit 40 percent for their attempts. In addition, Lewis-Clark forced Columbia to turn the ball over 31 times and swiped 13 steals to Columbia’s 10.

Pacing Columbia was senior Leann Fossum and freshman Whitney Widaman with 16 points a piece.

Cougar softball sweeps conference opener

Columbia, Mo. – In its first American Midwest Conference games of the 2007 season, the Columbia Cougar softball team swept an afternoon double-header against Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) College 1-0 and 2-1. The Cougars improve to 6-6 on the season.  The Trojans fall to 5-8 on the year.

In game one Meghan Bailey (3-2) notched the complete game shutout giving up just six hits and three walks while striking out eight. Lindsey Williams scored the game winning run for Columbia in the bottom of the sixth inning on a Stephanie Stowe RBI single.  Bailey shut the Trojans down in the top of the seventh to secure the victory.  Stowe, Williams and Rachel Brawner all had one hit a piece for Columbia. 

Game two was another low scoring affair as Columbia could only manage one hit.  Lindsey Hume led off the fifth inning with a walk and scored from first base on an Amanda Hodges sacrifice that the Trojan pitcher threw into right field.  Hodges advanced to second on the error and scored on a Williams single. 

Katie McMahon (3-4) picked up the victory for Columbia, totaling seven strikeouts and giving up just five hits in seven innings of action. 

Columbia will face three NCAA Division I opponents this weekend during the Mizzou Invitational including Western Illinois University, from the Mid-Continent Conference, 2006 National Runners-up from the Big 10 Northwestern (Ill.) University and from the Big 12 the University of Missouri.

Cougar softball squad earns a split in home opener

Columbia, Mo. – In its first home outing of the 2007 season, the Columbia Cougar softball team notched a split against Region V foe William Jewell (Mo.) College, dropping the first game 1-4 and winning the second 10-0 in five innings. The Cougars are 4-6 on the season.  The Cardinals from William Jewell are now 6-4.

In the first game Katie McMahon (2-4) took the loss giving up seven hits and striking out six.  William Jewell scored one run in the first and three in the second to start out on top.  Columbia remained scoreless until the bottom of the seventh when leftfielder Marcie McMahon hit a shot out to right field that was misplayed by William Jewell.  McMahon landed on third and scored two batters later when second baseman Stephanie Kababie hit a single.  However the comeback fell short as the Cardinals took the three-run victory.

Lindsey Williams, Stephanie Stowe and Kababie all had one hit a piece for Columbia. 

In the second game, the Cougars leapt out to an early lead scoring seven runs in the bottom of the second and three in the fifth to run-rule the Cardinals 10-0.  Seven different Cougars had one hit a piece in the win. 

Meghan Bailey (2-2) picked up the victory for Columbia, totaling four strikeouts and giving up just three hits in five innings of action. 

The Cougars start their march through American Midwest Conference (AMC) play on Wednesday, March 14 when they host conference foe Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) College.  The first pitch of the doubleheader will be thrown at 2 p.m.

Lady Cougars draw Lewis-Clark State

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia Lady Cougar basketball team will play Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) College in the first round of the NAIA Division I Women’s National Basketball Tournament, according to the official bracket released today by the NAIA National Office.

The Lady Cougars, who received an at-large bid into this year’s tournament, will square off against the Warriors from Lewis-Clark at Oman Arena in Jackson, Tenn. at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 15.

This is the fifth appearance in six years for the Lady Cougars in the National Tournament. 

This will be the first ever meeting between the two squads.  The Cougars hold an overall record of 26-7 and received an at-large bid after holding the No. 27 ranking in the final NAIA Poll.

Lewis-Clark, which is 30-2 overall, qualified for the national tournament as an at-large bid after falling to Carroll College in the Frontier Conference Championship.  The Warriors have four players averaging double figures in scoring.  Lewis-Clark is led by 6-3 senior center Ashley Baker. Baker is averaging 15.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.  Janeen Nelson, a 5-9 senior guard, averages 11.9 points per game. 

The championship is a 32-team, single-elimination tournament.  16 teams qualify via automatic berth.  Automatic berths are issued to the 11 conference tournament champions and one independent qualifier.  The remaining fifteen teams qualify through at-large bids based on the final national poll.

Should the Lady Cougar prevail on Thursday morning, they will face the winner of the first round match-up between Oklahoma Baptist and Cumberland (Tenn.) on Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Oman Arena in Jackson, Tenn.

First round action in the 2007 NAIA National Tournament begins on Wednesday, March 14.  The Championship game is Tuesday, March 20 at 6 p.m.

Two Cougars named first team all-conference

Lebanon, Ill. - Following Monday's men’s basketball American Midwest Conference (AMC) championship game, members of the AMC All-Conference squads were recognized. Senior forwards Marcus Bradford and Bryant Chambly were named to the ten-member first team. 

Two Cougar players also earned academic all-conference recognition for maintaining a cumulative grade point average above 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Recipients from Columbia included Chambly and senior guard Ryan Steinhoff. 

This is the second straight season that Chambly, a St. Louis, Mo. native, has been named to the first team.  Chambly led Columbia in scoring and rebounding this season averaging 17.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.  Chambly played in and started 16 games for the Cougars.

Bradford, a senior from Columbus, Ohio, averaged 15.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.  Marcus was an honorable-mention All-Conference recipient last season.

Softball Cougars win two
 

Orange Beach, Ala. – The Cougar Softball squad pushed its overall record to 3-5 today with two wins in the third day of the Gulf Shores Invitational.  The Cougars faced Thomas (Ga.) University in their first outing of the day, defeating the Nighthawks 3-2.  Columbia then went on to drop Spring Hill (Ala.) College 10-2 in six innings.  With these two wins the Cougars won the silver bracket championship of the invitational.  

Against Thomas, Columbia fell behind early when the Nighthawks scored in the first inning.  The Cougars fought back in the top of the sixth when they scored all three of their runs.  Thomas was able to put one more run up in the bottom of the sixth, but it was not enough to overcome Columbia.  Catcher Stephanie Stowe highlighted the game with two doubles, one RBI and one run scored.  Chris Schoonover, Rachel Brawner, Katie McMahon and Amanda Hodges all added one hit a piece in the win.   

Meghan Bailey (1-2) got the win for Columbia giving up just four hits.  She had seven strikeouts in the game. 

In the second game of the day, the Cougars downed Spring Hill posting 13 hits, including two homeruns by Stowe.  Stephanie ended with three hits, five RBI's and three runs scored.  Schoonover, McMahon and Brawner each posted two hits.

Katie McMahon (2-3) receives the win for the Cougars, fanning two batters and giving up just five hits. 

Columbia returns to the field on Thursday, March 8 when they host William Jewell (Mo.) College in their home opener.  The first pitch is scheduled to be thrown at 2 p.m.

Lady Cougars fall to Harris-Stowe in AMC Championship

Columbia, Mo. - The Columbia Lady Cougar basketball team fell in a heartbreaker to American Midwest Conference (AMC) foe Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University tonight by a score of 78-58.  This was the Championship game of the AMC tournament, and with the loss the Lady Cougars drop to 26-7 on the season. 

The Hornets led the Lady Cougars 36-29 at halftime. Columbia shot 39 percent in the first half and went just two-for-eight from three-point range.  In the second frame, the Hornets extended their lead, outscoring the Lady Cougars 42-29. 

LeAnn Fossum had a double-double for the Lady Cougars dropping in 25 points and 10 rebounds.  

Following the contest, members of the AMC All-Conference squads were recognized. Amber Lewellen was honored as the league’s most valuable player as well as newcomer of the year, and named to the ten-member first team. Senior LeAnn Fossum pulled in first team accolades for the third straight season.

Three players on Columbia’s roster earned academic all-conference recognition for maintaining a cumulative grade point average above 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Recipients from Columbia included Jessica Wilkerson, Valerie Suarez and Whitney Davis. 

The NAIA National Tournament is scheduled for March 16-22 in Jackson, Tenn.  The Lady Cougars will await the release of the National tournament bracket on Tuesday, March 6 to see if they will receive one of the 15 at-large berths.

Softball Cougars advance to Silver bracket

Orange Beach, Ala. - The Cougar softball team dropped one game to fall to 1-5 on the season today.  Columbia is competing in the Gulf Coast invitational.  The Cougars took on Houston Baptist (Texas) University today, falling 0-5 in an 11 a.m. contest. 

Columbia only managed three hits on the day which was not enough to overcome the five runs Houston Baptist had posted in earlier innings.  Ashley Perrigo, Stephanie Stowe and Lindsey Williams each had one hit apiece for the Cougars. 

Katie McMahon (1-3) took the loss for Columbia, striking out two and giving up 12 hits. 

Columbia advanced into the silver bracket as the third seed in their pool. They will continue play tomorrow morning when they take on the winner of Reinhardt College and Thomas University at 9 a.m.

Softball Cougars split on first day of Invitational

Orange Beach, Ala. – The Columbia Cougar softball team recorded a split today at the Gulf Shores Invitational in Orange Beach, Ala.  Columbia defeated Faulkner (Ala.) University 6-1 this morning and lost to Oklahoma City University 0-9 in five innings.  The Cougars move to 1-4 on the season. 

In the first game of the day against Faulkner, Columbia fell behind in the top of the second when the Eagles hit a homerun to go up 1-0.  The Cougars responded in the bottom of the inning when senior Marcie McMahon hit her first homerun of the season to tie the game up. Columbia took control of the game after that, scoring three runs in the third and two more in the fourth including a two-run homerun from Stephanie Stowe. 

Chris Schoonover, Ashley Perrigo and Stowe all had two hits a piece in the victory.  Lindsey Williams, Rachel Brawner, Amanda Hodges as well as McMahon all ended with one hit.  Stowe finished with four RBI’s.

Katie McMahon (1-2) got the win on the mound for the Cougars.  Katie gave up just two hits and one walk, while fanning four Eagle batters.  

Against Oklahoma City, Columbia fell 0-9 and recorded six hits, including two from Williams. 

Meghan Bailey (0-2) recorded the loss for Columbia.  Bailey had two strikeouts and gave up two walks and eight runs.  She was relieved in the second by Marcie McMahon who threw the duration of the game. 

The Cougars continue play tomorrow in the Gulf Shores Invitational when they take on Houston Baptist (Texas) University at 11 a.m.  Columbia will enter bracket play on Saturday afternoon.  For game times and opponents, visit www.columbiacougars.com.

Cougars fall in AMC semifinal 

Lebanon, Ill. – The Cougar men’s basketball team saw their season come to an end tonight with a loss on the road in the American Midwest Conference (AMC) semifinal game.  Columbia was defeated by McKendree (Ill.) College 84-75.  The Cougars finish the season with a 16-16 record. 

At the ten minute mark in the first half the Cougars trailed 13-17 but were able to bring the game within one several times due to a 21 point performance from senior Bryant Chambly.  At the break McKendree led 39-37. 

The Bearcats started the second half with a 20-9 run, leaving the Cougars down 13 with ten minutes remaining in the game.  Columbia trailed by four with just over one minute remaining after Trae Hall drained a three-pointer. The Bearcats sank two free-throws to increase the lead to six, while the Cougars fought back with a Marcus Bradford three-pointer.  McKendree returned to the free-throw line seconds later to push their lead to five.  Columbia was unable to answer as the clock wound down, giving the Bearcats the win.  

Chambly ended with 29 to lead the Cougars. Louis McCrary added 16 and Marcus Bradford had 10 points.

Lady Cougars move into AMC title game

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia Lady Cougar basketball team will make the program’s fifth appearance in the American Midwest Conference (AMC) tournament championship game, which is scheduled for Saturday, March 3 at 7 p.m. in the Arena of Southwell Complex. Columbia advanced to the title game by knocking off the University of Illinois-Springfield 82-73 in tonight’s semifinal match-up in the Arena.

With the win the Lady Cougars improve to 26-6.  Tonight’s loss ends the Prairie Stars' season at 15-17.

In the first half, Whitney Widaman tallied 14 points, pushing Columbia to a 43-35 advantage at the break. The Lady Cougars shot  50 percent from the field, including six-for-fourteen from beyond the three-point arc.

In the second half, the Lady Cougars surged ahead by as many as 14 points, but the Prairie Stars cut the lead to two with just under four minutes remaining on free-throws made by UIS forward Shelby Horgan. However, the Prairie Stars were unable to shave anymore from Columbia’s lead as the Lady Cougars pushed their advantage down the stretch to take the nine-point win.

UIS outrebounded the Lady Cougars 49-41. Columbia dropped in 16 second-chance points off of 10 offensive rebounds.

Widaman paced Columbia with 23 points. Amber Lewellen posted 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Helen Ogunjimi netted 12 points.  Megan Archuleta and LeAnn Fossum each posted 10 points. Lewellen and Whitney Davis also passed out five assists a piece.

Nicole White led UIS with 15 points.

Columbia will host Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University in Saturday’s final. Harris-Stowe knocked off McKendree (Ill.) College in semifinal action in Lebanon, Ill. to move into the championship contest.

The winner of the AMC Tournament receives an automatic bid to the 32-team NAIA Division I National Tournament in Jackson, Tenn. on March 14-20.
