6th Annual Cougar Club & Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament is another great success

Columbia, Mo. – The 2006 Cougar Club & Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament was once again a great success.  A total of 208 golfers in 52 four-person scramble teams competed during two shotgun starts at the Columbia Country Club this past Monday.  During the 8 a.m. shotgun start 23 teams participated followed by the remaining 29 teams during the 1 p.m. shotgun start.

The team from Schindler Elevator Corporation posted the low score of the morning round, finishing with a 15 under par score of 56 to give them third place in A-flight.  Their 56 score actually tied them with three other teams, but Schindler won out on the scorecard tiebreaker.

The foursome from Simon Oswald Associates posted the low score of the day shooting a 17 under par round of 54 during the afternoon round to take first place in the A-flight.  The team from Bulte Company finished one stoke back in second place, posting a score of 55.

Individual awards were also given out for longest drive, hole eight for women and hole nine for the men, as well as closest to the pin on hole eleven.  The long drive winner for the women was former Cougar Softball All-American pitcher Natalie Buitink.  On the men's side, former Cougar Basketball player Ryan Neisen was the long drive winner.  Both players received $50 gift certificates to Grill One 5, $25 gift certificates to US Cleaners and a bottle of wine compliments of Premier Bank.

Paul Bax, from the IKON Office Solutions team, put his 184 yard tee shot 3'6" from the hole to win him closest to the pin honors.  For his efforts, Bax won a $250 Swiss watch compliments of L.C. Betz Jewelers.

Navy sponsors for this year's tournament were Reinhardt Construction, Simon Oswald Associates and S. M. Wilson & Co.

Silver sponsors were IKON Office Solutions, Mid-Continental Restoration Company Inc., Shiloh Bar & Grill and Spellman Brady Company.

The tournament also set a record for the number of hole sponsors, with 45 different sponsors, all listed below.
